We agree that Meray Paas Tum Ho became one of the biggest sensations in Pakistan, a cult classic with a huge fan following. However, when its makers, especially the founder of ARY Network, Salman Iqbal, compared Meray Paas Tum Ho’s popularity with that of Game of Thrones, we knew he had gone a bit overboard.
And perhaps, we weren’t;t the only ones who felt this way. Recently, actor, director, and filmmaker, Shamoon Abbasi, too, threw shade at the makers of Meray Paas Tum Ho, mocking them for considering a local drama as big a sensation as the internationally acclaimed Game of Thrones.
Calling out the makers of the drama for making false claims of having put behind Avengers and its comparison to GOT, Shamoon, while stating so, also proved his point with given facts.
“The day GOT finale was to be released, the makers had social media including Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, blocked down for approximately 6 hours, just so the spoilers couldn’t be shared,” stated Shamoon.
Questioning the local drama producers who made such tall claims, Shamoon stated, “Do you have such control over social media that you can hold things from going on the internet for 5 minutes?” GOT was huge and comparing a Pakistani drama serial, which although became a big sensation in Pakistan, however, sounds rather nonsensical and presumptuous on part of its makers.
