Folk Singer Sanam Marvi Files For Khula

Famed folk singer Sanam Marvi has lodged a case for khula (woman’s right to divorce) from husband Hamid Ali in Lahore’s Family court.

Sanam Marvi claimed in her plea that her husband’s attitude towards her changed once they were married.

“Hamid started abusing and torturing me in front of the children. I tolerated abuse from my husband for the sake of my kids,” Marvi stated in her petition.

“It is no longer possible for me to be with my husband,” she said, requesting that the court issue her a decree for a khula.

Marvi & Ali were married in 2009 and have three children together. She had tied the knot with Ali after her former husband Aftab Ahmed was killed in Karachi the same year.
